Mike Tomlin Appointed to NFL's Competition Committee

Looks like Steelers fans will have to be less angry about future rules changes--or at least pretend to be. On Tuesday, it was announced by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell that Mike Tomlin has been appointed to the NFL's Competition Committee.

The committee is a nine-member panel that often alters existing rules and proposes new ones. For example, last month, the committee did away with the controversial and often hard to interpret "tuck rule," a rule that was forever in the spotlight following the infamous finish to a divisional playoff game between the Raiders and Patriots following the 2001 season.

Said Tomlin of his appointment: "I am humbled and honored to be selected to the competition committee by Commissioner Goodell. I am excited for the opportunity to help maintain and strengthen the NFL game, and I look forward to contributing any way that I can."

The 41 year old Tomlin will replace former Pittsburgh West aka Arizona Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt.
